Your Review Committee Shouldn't Have to Guess

Most HOA boards aren't staffed with architects. When a homeowner submits plans for a renovation or new build, someone has to decide: does this meet community standards?

Without expertise, boards either approve things they shouldn't, reject things they can't defend, or get stuck in endless back-and-forth with frustrated homeowners.

I review submissions so your board doesn't have to

I'm a licensed architect who has performed 125+ design reviews for private clubs and HOAs. I review proposed projects against your community's guidelines and deliver clear written recommendations your board can act on.

Services include:

  • Plan compliance review against your existing guidelines

  • Written reports with findings, illustrated where needed

  • Recommendations for approval, denial, or revision—with reasoning you can share with the homeowner and their architect directly

  • Can work directly with architects to work toward compliant projects

  • Assistance clarifying or updating your design guidelines over time as I learn what the rules mean to your community

Get Started

What gets missed without professional review:

  • Setback and height violations that aren't obvious from the drawings

  • Materials and finishes that don't match guidelines (or guidelines that don't specify clearly enough)

  • Rooflines, massing, and proportions that clash with neighborhood character

  • Incomplete submissions that force multiple review cycles

  • Decisions that are hard to justify when a homeowner pushes back

Review Pricing

Reviews are billed hourly and typically $150-$800 depending on the rules complexity and the type of projects under review. We can work together to find pricing that will work with your HOA. Some HOAs charge these review fees directly to the architect as part of the submission process, which I can help facilitate. Get in touch and we can discuss how to proceed. A sample redacted review is available on request.
